The story behind the ruins dates back to the early 1900s when Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson built this magnificent mansion for his Portuguese wife, Maria Braga. The mansion was designed by an Italian architect and boasted grandeur with its neoclassical architecture and lavish interiors. Unfortunately, tragedy struck during World War II when American forces bombed Bacolod City in their efforts to liberate it from Japanese occupation. The mansion was set ablaze but miraculously remained standing despite being reduced to ruins.
